NAARE Scholars Profiles - Cohort 2

Cecilia Ardon Pane headshot

Cecilia Ardon Pane 

Cecilia is junior who transferred from Long Beach City College, majoring in Public Health with a concentration in International Health. Her academic goals is to pursue a masters degree in Biostatistics or Epidemiology in order to a pursue a career conducting data analysis for clinical trials. Through the NAARE program, she hopes to learn more about Neurocognitive Aging because her grandfather was diagnosed with Alzheimers and she has seen first hand the impact it can have. She also hopes to gain a foundation of necessary skills that will support her future goals in academics, as well as her career.

Jared Brown

Jared is a senior majoring in Kinesiology and Public Health (Nutrition). His research interest include neurodegenerative diseases, nutrition, and muscle physiology. Through the NAARE program he aspires to enhance his statistical expertise in epidemiology and gain foundational skills to strengthen his knowledge. Jared's goals are to obtain a graduate degree and work in eventually work in the neuroscience field.

Jazmin Chavira

Jazmin, a junior majoring in public health with a concentration in health education and promotion, is impassioned by the prospects of improving community health. Eager to explore and learn foundational skills, Jazmin seeks to immerse herself in this research program. Aspiring to become an epidemiologist, she approaches this opportunity as a pivotal step toward her goal.

Sammy is a Junior Psychology major, minoring in Chemistry with plans to attend medical school. She became interested in Alzheimer's when her grandmother was diagnosed, and her research interests include understanding the biochemical pathways that diseases like Alzheimers take in the human body.

Clarissa is a fourth year majoring in biology with a concentration of cell and developmental biology. Her career goals are to go to graduate school and become a Physician Assistant. She intends to gain more knowledge about the effects of neurocognitive aging and diseases on population health through the NAARE Program.

Cindy is a third year-biochemistry major. Through the NAARE program, she hopes to learn the foundations of statistical analysis to apply to her future career. She plans to pursue a graduate degree and work in the drug development industry.

Monica Quijas

Monica is a junior majoring in Psychology and minoring in Public Health. Her research includes cellular and molecular neuroscience, cognitive and behavioral neuroscience, and computational neuroscience. Through the NARE program she hopes to gain experience in statistical designs and procedures. Her ultimate goal is obtain a doctorate goals and focus on Neurodevelopmental disorders.

Kirsten Clerre is a third-year Biology major with a concentration in Molecular Biology and Biotechnology. Her career goal is to become a pharmaceutical scientist and work in the pharmaceutical industry for drug development and design. Her research interests include molecular biology, genomics, biotechnology, and epidemiology.

Anna Ristaino

Anna is a third-year psychology major. Her career goals include pursuing a graduate degree in social work and eventually exploring international opportunities within this field. She is interested in cognitive and neuropsychology, as well as working with the foster youth and elderly population, specifically older veterans. Through the NAARE program, she hopes to gain more knowledge about the causes and impacts of neurocognitive aging on various populations.

Nkosi is a junior majoring in Mathematics with a concentration in Probability and Statistics. Nkosi is interested in leveraging statistical analytics in order to solve problems related to neurocognitive again. He plans on obtaining a masters degree in statistics and using hi skills to solve intricate problems.
